HiFo and soon the MC e.V. as the legal entity of maemo.org and this community is not allowed to host flashing tools and images. Nothing we can do about it, sorry. Not exactly what we wanted but also not that much of an issue since nobody will stop you from posting links to external sources like done here.

How are unofficial mirrors related to an official thread about migration? Please don't deviate from the topic.

Thanks!

Question for Hildon Foundation:

Will we ever hear officially what became of negotiations/discussions with Nokia? Are these still on-going?

Except for Nokia doing exactly this, i.e. hosting exactly those flashing tools and images, on maemo.org for years and passed them to techstaff in a messed up state. When techstaff fixed the mess and thus made tabletsdev.maemo.org and thus the proxifarm tablets-dev.nokia.com work again, suddenly this wasn't legal anymore. Quite sane!
There once been a semi-official mirror of all those files, run by trusted community members and checked for correctness by council, but HiFo did a hell of a job to alienate, scare and threaten those who ran that server, instead of trying to do all they could to keep those guys providing that awesome service to whole community. Now suggesting to link to random non-trustworthy 3rd sources is kinda... :-S

You're kidding us, are you? Links to random untrusted external "illegal" possibly rogue non-authentic and for sure non-maintainable non-stable non-persistent sources as a valid substitute for nokia or at least maemo.org providing the most essential tools and files?

Since the direct links to those images still work people can just pastebin them and it won't be illegal AFAIK. For example http://nds2.fds-fire.nokia.com/fdp/i...ED_MR0_ARM.bin works and the page of tab-dev also used to link to such a link.

Such a method is better than linking to third-party sites obviously.
