Has anybody looked into making a Tom Tom application or other GPS solutions?

Apparently the TOMTOM program is actually a linux software package, and only needs a type of emulator for each OS (Palm, PPC) to run! Maybe we should contact TomTom and suggest a port.

I've got it working with a Garmin GPS 10, but no detailed map (won't load maps for me). The UI needs serious work but it's a great sign of things to come.

Yes, I've got it running with some PNG map tiles I have sliced from a larger UK map that I have here. I have ordered a Rikalite GPS from Hong Kong and it should be here early next week and I will test it actually in use.

One problem could be that it uses 1026x768 images - the edges of the map aren't shown and I don't know what happens when you move off the edge. Perhaps if it was modified to load 800x480 images it would work better.

A Tom Tom pack would be great, other people have mentioned that it should be fairly easy for them to convert because the Go system uses Linux on similar hardware. I expect they would want to see a good number of 770 units sold before they think it is worth it.

Perhaps everyone who has any interest in GPS on the 770 should email Tomtom and ask about 770 support so they can see what kind of interest there is. You need to register on their site, and then submit a support ticket. But it would be awfully nice to have this available.

I'd buy TomTom for the 770 if it was available. I've already got a bluetooth GPS, so just the software would be A1.
