Ok, thanks to everyone. I'll try to find this bug and fix it to the next release.

As far as I know, it shouldn't be hard to implement this (killer) feature

Well, I will be glad if you little explain me. Perhaps you are right. But let me explain how meegim is made. This client is based on a library Qxmpp. (by the way, qxmpp is an awesome library) Then I created some wrap for this library which implements an xmpp client. After that I exported these modules to QML and the client logic is implemented in QML. So as you can see, I can't run the client as deamon.

I too am facing the same issue - My messages return to me. Also, the supposed recipient doesnt get any!
Here is my configuration if it may help.
Service is Google Talk.
JID - <google.username>@gmail.com
password - google account password
Resource - Nokia N9
Server - talk.google.com
Port - 5222

I also tried port 443 as recommended by Google. But it gives me "socket error".

So basically this issue cripples the whole app for me.
Awesome UI, btw! I really wish to use the app if the issue gets fixed. :-)

Yes, thank you. Today I found same behavior. Sorry, I use simple xmpp account, and didn't see it. This strange thing happens only with google accounts. There is some feature for gTalk. I didn't know about it, and when you send your message, google server returns same message and reports about error. So, user sees its message. Please, wait for the next release. I'll fix it certainly.

Version 0.4.0 is available.
I fixed the problem with gTalk. Some problems was fixed too. But there is something new Now you can create own theme smiles. How you can do this I will write it later. Also will be available some examples.
But if shortly:
1. create a directory /home/user/.config/meegim/smiles
2. create a directory with your smiles /home/user/.config/meegim/smiles/mytheme
3. create a theme file theme.xml (for example you can take /opt/meegim/smiles/theme.xml)
4. put the theme.xml into /home/user/.config/meegim/smiles/mytheme
5. put your png files into /home/user/.config/meegim/smiles/mytheme
6. restart MeegIM and choose your theme

If you found bugs please report about it.
