I was wondering if it's possible to connect to multiple network at once. My PC can connect to Wireless network and a 3G modem at the same time, and if it's possible in N900, I'd like to know how to do that
Thing is, I am connected 24/7 with IM using 3G network. And sometimes I wish to connect to a local network using wireless network where internet connection is not available, and don't want to lose my IM connection. Is that possible?

Thanks in advance

You might find some useful information in this WiFi Hotspot thread:

uuhh, a little enlightenment would be appreciated

I don't get it at all all I can conclude is, IT IS POSSIBLE that a cellular data running concurrently with wireless data connection, since the main topic of that thread is allowing N900 to act as wireless hotspot (wifi, check) to connect to internet using cellular data connection (3G, check)
problem now is, how to make it running the way I want? connect to multiple network at the same time. would be great if it doesn't require a custom kernel as well

thanks a lot for your reply

I think you're going to need a Maemo 5 version of wpa_supplicant. One doesn't exist at the moment; maybe I'll try and build one later today.

But here's what I was able to do:

connect to T-Mobile internet
install wireless-tools [apt-get install wireless tools]
run ifconfig wlan0 up in xterm
run iwlist wlan0 scan in xterm
see the wifis

I'm running an unmodified version of PR 1.3.

no available AP at the moment so iwlist scan always return nothing
but can I connect to any existing AP after using that method? or it just scans?
thanks a lot
