hey is there any way to set a dark background in the main menu? when using white wallpapers, its difficult to see in the main menu. please dont recommend any blurness settings from transitions tuner as i am using the smooth settings transition.ini and i tried blurness. it got dark but the overall transitions were widely affected by it. please recommend a way to change the background of the menu to black or a bit dark so that it is easy to read the icon names etc.

Yes, I agree..
This limits my choice of wall papers to black, dark grey mix patterns like a grill or so. As anything more colorful makes using the menu hard to use, specially for people who use only one or two desktops and rely on the menu heavily for reaching the applications

Here's how I did it.
Go to /usr/share/hildon-desktop/ and Edit (4) 'transitions.ini'
Go down to [home] and change the values of 'brightness' and 'saturation' (1=same wallpaper) (0=black(brightness)/black and white(saturation))
There are many other changes that you can make in the speeds and animations of your hildon-desktop making it smoother and cooler.
