It's not that they promised an update today (because they didn't) but the general method of holding back fixes until a firmware release. It seems antiquated and does not go in line with general nature of this device and typical linux distros.

It is annoying to have community involvement to report bugs in public, but then fixes are held back in private for months and we're left waiting. It seems like a one-way street. The only incentive for unpaid labor (N900 owners) to report bugs is the hope that they will be fixed. When fixes are kept away from the affected users for no apparent good reason, the user loses the motivation to volunteer his time helping this company.

At least it s not liked in Maemo 4 where all bugs got a "Fixed in Fremantle status"

assuming the hong kong launch went ahead, surely there is now a PR1.2 image on their download server for people in hong kong?

Or was hong kong a press launch and not a retail one?
