Ancient, hated it, it didn't clarify anything as far as I'm concerned.
I can kinda understand why he chose to explain it the way he did though.
Coming from where he is etc...

Peter Skillman explaining how Elop and Fail answer on Harmattan support Marko (smile in between every sentence bullshi**er MS virus converted) has nothing to do with being able to take credit for N9 UX.

Why fire elop? We know what we have but not what we get.

EDIT: This guy is responsible if you want to hit someone in the face.

Does anyone know how sales are doing in the middle east or Australia? I've been following news pretty regularly trying to decide if I should pre-order from MCO. I did see the Finnish pre-order new and the 92k unit tweet.

I met a random Finnish businessman the other day from "the country" and I said, "When are you guys going to fire Elop?" and he replied "Exactly." lol

Hmm, might pop over & see if he can clarify what the issues with Nokia are.
Wishful thinking I know....
If Nokia came fully on board, I imagine resourcing would be less of an issue.

As for Myriad, I've read (shortly after the N9 launched) that they could only deal with device manufacturers as Alien Dalvik would not easily install as an end-user application. This may or may not be the case, but when you consider the problems surrounding Android and it's questionable legality it's unlikely that any small development company wants to have to deal with Oracle etc. right now.
WRT to AD, pretty sure end-user is feasible, I recall reading as such, can't recall where now.
But as you say even if it is, there's still the potential legal issues... sigh.

Or OpenMobile find a way to ship their product without directly distributing Android source code (sort of like kernel objects/binary blobs that aren't included in a Linux distribution, but can be downloaded and installed by the end-user with a single button click - obviously any equivalent method would be non trivial for OpenMobile).
That's a good point, hadn't considered that, might raise that in the thread if you haven't already.

If Google do lose the court case, and subsequently clean up their code base so that it can be downloaded and used without threat of legal action, it may be too late for MeeGo and several other niche platforms.
Another point I hadn't considered, a lot of niche platforms would be in big trouble if that happened!
The judge doesn't sound happy at all with oracle's current exorbitant claims.
http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/22/o...ion-risks-the/

Surely google would just pay a once-off settlement (or some sort of licensing might be arranged), & not bother w/a total re-write?
It'd be risky on their part, the market's moving so fast, or maybe they've already started, who knows.

OpenMobile can't wait too long and need to strike while the iron is hot - getting their product on to MeeGo-proper will be great and all, but the real benefit for them and us will be getting it on to the N9 as like it or not the N9 is the only thing keeping MeeGo relevant right now, which is ironic given the N9 has little to actually do with MeeGo!
I couldn't agree more.

I hate to say it, but unfortunately it's true.

Makes no sense given everything we know about the scale of the roll-out.
Plus he was claiming that figure for N950 too, not so long ago...

Say what!? That's going to be a deal breaker for me... I can't believe I didn't test copy-paste in the browser

Can you at least copy-paste in Opera?

Yeah, despite much poking and gesturing, you only seem to be able to copy text inside editable text fields in the browser in the current N950 image*.
They may well add the feature in, but the best you can do at the moment is "share to email" and then copy from there.

Not sure about what Opera does, but Firefox Mobile supports highlighting through click and hold.

* preproduction software disclaimer etc. etc.
