No unfortunately my time was spent on gtkgep.
which works.
after alot of mangling to get it to run on antix and a few other distros...
after alot of work and alot of help from android808 and kot...
both of whom were far more brilliant than I could have been and who achieved ultimate-gtkgep-on-n900/n8x0-uber-mangling...

If anything works next...
I'd be betting on jackd being at the root of it....
since we have it..(weird eh?)
Next I could see would be Jesusonic (which is as freakin' awesome as it's name...works on windows, works on x86 linux...I use it...I don't see why a port of it wouldn't happen..)
kotzarny has been messing with sox in his ocmp prog...so I don't see why an app couldn't be wrapped around sox for real-time fx.
Lotta potential here...
me at this point ...
I'm currently playin' messin' with gtkgep on my nxx0's...
hmm..
also...
when android808 finishes with gtk puttering..
it may be likely a better version of gtkgep will come out of it..
perhaps NEW presets too may be a possibility consequently ...
I would love rakarrack full screen on our devices...
there is rak for arm under squeeze, wheezy and i'm sure jessie as well...so easy deb to the rescue?
be great to have exef too...
be great to have creox, and ecamegapedal too...
be great to have them all...
takes porting and testing...

the ultimate would be a very flexible prog...
that is simple ...
visually elegant...
with a finger friendly interface...
that doesn't waste screen space...
nor is too tight and small to see and use...
that has multiple on screen racks or cabinets or whatever people wish to call them (here is where the setup of rak is perfect....just too many cabinets statically showing all at once on screen makes for a very small tight space of interaction for our devices...
perhaps scrolling screen via sumthin qt-like...super slick....so could shuffle between a screen that has 2-3or 4 cabinets on the screen at a time...much better layout for us...)
with the ability to create new presets/cabinets/raks/whathaveyou more easily...
then one could technically have it all...the best of all rt fx processors in one...
grand thought...

Gotta hand it to you though..
nerves of steel there friend..
trying to run exef raw without mangling it 1st into something either maemo or easy deb could understand and handle is gutsy..

Back to the fun here.
Been enjoying gtkgep on my nxx0 with my harps,

Kotczarny any luck with calf on the n900?
That would be a HUGE gain for real time on our devices.

Also
I have fiddled some with the latest oscp , any possibility of real time with it?
been meaning to ask those two questions.

and lastly guys...
I have been looking at one of my all time favorites for some time now.
Jesusonic "God's own effects processor" it is coined.
(and it is pretty damn good even though it is over a decade old now)
I have used it for years and years and years...
Is there any reason why we couldn't get it to work on our n8x0's ?
since Diablo runs linux 2.6
and alsa and oss are a given...
It would be a big step toward real time effects processing that is highly configurable, and effects that can be easily written for it.

so many TODOs, so little time.

1/ haven't touched calf unfortunatelly.
2/ on n8x0 you dont have oss/alsa. only esd (which emulates oss). and audio hw devices are plain weird.
3/ real time in oscp: you mean having some effects on input from mic or just on playback?

1- ach!
2- right right right...esd ....argh ..I had blissfully forgotten the tumor it was causing me
3- real time in oscp: input from mic would be nice.

Aha!
Sooooo...
esd may be an issue concerning implementing Calf or Jesusonic on the n8x0's

Buuuuuuuut...
what about implementing Calf or Jesusonic on the n900?
Instead of esd , it is the joy of alsa and pulseaudio on the n900...
Soooo, possibly possible?

Some may think I am flogging a dead horse here...
talking about jesusonic still...
For myself I have used it ...the original jesusonic that is...from back 2003-2004 ...

Instead of being stuck with someone else's concept of a "complete" system, with no room to grow and create inside of, like every other effects processor...
I always had a thing for it since one can write one's own effects for it, one isn't restricted.

sure it isn't flashy, it is the opposite of that.
But what it can do...
here is a good example what jesusonic 2004 can do...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWS4JKi0w80

And so my hopes that the linux version (it is free) of jesusonic could run on the nxx0's

some never stopped working on jesusonic and making it better, by the way...
In fact,
Flash forward a few years ...
Like to this year
to last May
And look at the evolution of jesusonic into this Freaky *****!!!

I JUST stumbled into this and discussions on their work over the last 3 years.
I HAD NO IDEA it was still being worked on.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7f9fOeBecaY

I had no idea...
This new reimagining and use of jesusonic ..
jsusfx - the Opensource Jesusonic FX implementation for linux...
is in the debian and buntu repos...as in current builds.

I will have to play with this plugged into one of my instruments on my laptop.

I decided to investigate a bit. Jsusfx needs puredata which in turn needs python3 and Jack which would involve a little more work.

Original jesusonic I haven't found source for. Only release I can find is a prebuilt x86 tarball.
