I actually just browsed directly to the Amazon MP3 store and bought/downloaded files directly from my N900's browser. Make sure to skip any steps asking to install the downloader for Linux and just do straight downloads. Not as elegant as purchasing from iTunes, but gets the job done, and is DRM free.
