Thinking about purchasing a 770 this week and would like to know if someone can test something for me (streaming video) ? Bear in mind that this site is in England and at night, not much movement takes place.

Go to :

http://benbird.homeip.net/

User i.d. and password is "guest".

There are 3 cameras you can choose from:
"movablecam", "carcam", & "streetcam"

1. By choosing "auto" for viewing method, how does the stream look (quality) & how many frames per second is the feed ? What "imagesize" works best ? Does it work at all ?

2. By choosing "javascript refresh" for viewing method, how does the stream look (quality) & how many frames per second is the feed? What "imagesize" works best ? Does it work at all ?

3. By choosing "Server-push stream" for viewing method, how does the stream look (quality) & how many frames per second is the feed ? What "imagesize" works best ? Does it work at all ?

Only on the "movablecam" camera, you can you move the camera (pan/tilt) by clicking on "ptz" under the video feed.

1. Click "auto" (for image viewing method) , then to "ptz" after video shows up. Can you move the camera ?

2. Click "javascript refresh" (for image viewing method), then to "ptz" after video shows up. Can you move the camera ?

3. Click "Server-push stream" (for image viewing method), then to "ptz" after video shows up. Can you move the camera ?

4. How does viewing this site (and controling the camera )on the 770 compare to viewing it on your pc ?

You can also try a site in California (the same steps)

http://gregscameras.getmyip.com/

The image turns black and white on at night. The user i.d. and password is "a". The ptz however is disabled, however will be good to test ip on a 770.

Thanks for all your help in advance.

Greg-

Well, I'm still among the ranks of the wannabe 770 owners (I'm such a geek that I even paid for overnight shipping) but from what little I can tell, no, it won't work.

According to this thread: http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...=2148#post2148

There is no java vm for the 770 yet. Shame, I need it.

I quickly tested it with 770 on opera browser. Frame rate was about 1 fps for half an quarter size and half a frame per second for full size. Seemed to work well. I would have tested with gpe minibrowser, which has much better javascript support, but it doesn't apparently support logins. If you turn off the authentication, I can try again with that. Image quality is excellent. I didn't try moving the screen.

Thanks Konttori:

What is gpe minibrowser ? Does it come w/770 or do you need to do something in order to get it? Can you try moving the camera ? I would remove authentication, however, these are not my cameras. (I am debuting buying cameras and 770 this week) How does all this compare to viewing on a pc, espically the ip http://gregscameras.getmyip.com/ . Thanks for your time.

Regards,

Greg

It tried the benbird.homeip.net and it works find (except Java of course). The full size "server stream" is about 1fps in full size, but very very fast at 1/4 size (4fps), although the image was loading from the top a couple of times (ie. made the image white) rather than over-writing the existing image so it was a bit annoying. The javascript refresh version loaded the image instantly over the top of the old one.

The pan/tilt worked fine on the browser, it loads in a separate window and you can switch between the windows easily.

Overall it looks good. One thing to watch out for is the lighting levels, make sure the camera you get can deal with what you will be using it for.

Thanks Gareth

How does http://gregscameras.getmyip.com/ work as it a little more complicated (The camera is constantly moving) ?. How does the 770 compare to your pc (fps) ? What is gpe minibrowser as Konttori above refers to ? What browser did you view your results in ?

Regards,

Greg
