it's a feature that helps keep the forum clean though, we end up with a lot less posts of people saying "thanks"
some forums don't show the date a user joined either, they think the same way you do. it's an interesting topic, but i like that kind of stuff personally.

Well, if someone was really going to change the Thanks! option, you might, instead of getting one point for a thanks, consider a point scheme ranging from -10 means your advice led to the bricking of my phone to +10 means your advice was so useful it not only enhanced my n900 user experience but you've changed my life.
