Who made this update and what's it for?
A package from extras-development caused problems?

Good to see extras-delopment is working as it should.

Was anything done about this? just updated packages again and got same infinite crash loop.

Should this package be held back?

It seems to me there was a second update, which implied to me it was changed or fixed. I never had the original problem, so I didn't notice any difference. (I run apt-get update and upgrade at least daily and have forever)

well i could see the package name was something like *meego*maemo* while installing, however after this update the infinite crash loop still happens.

in the meantime i'm preventing this package from installing using:

dpkg --set-selections << EOF
libxau6 hold
EOF

until this will be solved.

Code:
nano /etc/apt/preferences
and then adding:
Code:
Package: libxau6
Pin: release a=unstable
Pin-Priority: 1001
Strg+O
Strg+X

works fine also

Cheers,

J4ZZ

Do not ping, IRC, or whatever <> X-Fade - the only proper way is filling bugs. This way, everything is in place and no one can say after 7 months "I don't remember that anyone tried to contact me about it". SD69 could tell You nice stories about that, if You buy him one.

BTW, it turned out, that buildme detected package conflict, but instead of rejecting it, package still landed in repos. I filled bug few days ago:
