Could someone clarify what the actual price of the unit is. On the website, it appears as €350, but then goes on to state I am only paying 35%. Is that 35% of €350 or is €350 the 35% ??!

Thanks.
Steve

Are there any future plans for a low budget N900 successor, some kind of poor man's Neo900?
1000 Euro is really something many of us won't afford, especially in poorer countries (for example: in Poland it's 2.5 times as much as the minimal monthly pay and a even more than the average pay. And I know some people earn about 200 Euro per month)

Yes I agree. €1000 euros for a device is a lot, and I want to support it, but when you have devices coming out with 4gb memory and 10 cores with access to a large app library, its hard to justify to myself why I should spend so much of my banks money!

Agreed.
It is a lot.
However, due to it's open aspect....
I expect a verrrrrryyyyy healthy, long multiple-option os and hardware lifespan out of this device to warrant the expense.
Since my n8x0's has done me fine almost a decade and my n900's more than 5+ years [and expect roughly another 5] ..
My hope is that the neo being so open... will last me at the worst 10 yrs and at best 15 to 20 yrs before it is too old.
I'm sure after 5 to 10 yrs there will be a few successors to the neo900 that I'll be eyeballing by then...
soooo..
all in all ...
I see the price as being a sound and valid investment in a long-term future.

Just wondering : are there any plans to have a case or something to protect our beloved Neo900 as no N900 case will fit (because of the spacer frame) and I don't think that a case that could fit the Neo900 exists in the wild...

Maybe it would be good to know how many of those who preordered an Neo900 would buy a case for it, just to know if it worths the attention or not.

Excellent question...
yeah..
I've been wondering if my leather pdair n900 book-case will close proper on the neo.
or even my silicone case for that matter.
If a n900 case won't fit..
I'll just make proper ones out of elk antler ..
and cut and stitch another out of leather..

for those not so handy...
yeah...that's a pickle...

I imagine though...
that there has to be a case of some sort out there in the wild that will accommodate the neo proportions...
It's just tracking it down.

I think someone tried an N900 plus a thick piece of cardboard in the standard case and it just about fit. Sorry I can't find it. A quick search in this thread found only this post which is not very conclusive. Also, the latest spacer thickness was 2.9 mm, not 2 mm as that post assumed.

The first batch of N900 gets ordered this week for all those customers that did a "Neo900 complete device" preorder until then.
>> I believe I have donate 100 eur<< sound a tad concerning, please contact Neo900 UG (contact AT neo900 org) and provide as many details as you can share so we can sort out what's the status your contribution. Generally a Neo900 preorder is a total of 480 € for DOWN PAYMENT (partial payment) to the yet undetermined higher final price of the product (estimated 980.-€ NeoN bare board, ~130 € on top for the case incl slider mechanic and flex cable with front cam ALS, proximity detector, LCD, for digitizer, battery, accessories etc) - see above URL and http://neo900.org/estimate

Just a year ago I purchased 3 units of a "landscape" holster for N900 in Spain from a huckster at the beach. They are a tad too large for N900 and fit perfectly for Neo900. Of course I can see if we can source a number of similar holsters for you if there's interest. I don't expect that to be much of a problem.

Short update: since yesterday we got a new version of the proto_v2 schematics which you can find in the usual download location http://neo900.org/stuff/eaglefiles/p...t-beautify.pdf.
Now also with pretty fonts and searchable: http://neo900.org/stuff/eaglefiles/p...tify_fonts.pdf
WLAN module selection is an ongoing topic due to poor availability of jorjin wg7351-00 (see https://neo900.org/stuff/block-diagr...00/neo900.html)
N900 sourcing of first batch will start this week

cheers
