you can try lmms
It's the same as fruity loops, but free.
I think it's available on the n900, but i am sure there is a .deb of it for ubuntu!

Cause they want it to be exclusive on their plateform.
Same thing for any apple/microsoft software/product.
Not exactly true about being exclusive
Just search Microsoft Office for iOS or Android on Google. For example:

Now if Sailfish OS can run android apps with ease then if its ported(hopefully) to the N9 you'll have Microsoft office apps. Same thing would apply with Xbox smartglass since android already has an app for it.

If you're talking about Sailfish, the SDK will not be availably until early Q1 of 2013. Can't wait. The Xbox smartglass SDK requires an Xbox 360 developer login, and comes with an Xbox SmartGlass Studio environment for building "SmartGlass Activities." It also includes a Javascript API that will work across Windows, iOS, Android and Windows Phone platforms, plus a library of sample code for developers to build off of.

... i was thinking about xbox smartglass too, but the source is closed and there is no api or workaround

it would be nice to use the N9 as a keyboard for the xbox (since IE is running you can watch youtube videos in html5)

-> an idea would be to sniff the traffic what smartglass makes (wireshark) and try to rebuild an app.
i've tryed this already with bluestacks, but smartglass isn't compatible with it ... and i dont have any android device to work with.

cheers,

dadaniel
