Yes, it is possible that you can see the swap used during the swapon/off cycle.

However, a quick test shows you maybe right and that a check should be done after a refresh to reset the statusbar. I would expect you to see a small value after a fresh swap but the statusbar shows the old values.

There is an option in the settings to refresh the statusbars at start BTW.

So new swap will have used already immediately after swap current amount of used swap memory memory! That is reason why I use 1,5G for my swap sizes, to increase the time between swap refreshs.
True, but please note I was talking about the amount of fresh swap written, not current swap size. It is the fresh swap amount that is displayed in FlopSwap (and not updated in its status bar after a swap is performed). So immediately after a swaponoff, the amount of fresh swap is zero, regardless of the current swap size.

Hope that clears up what I wanted to say.

And while I'm here...I just ran FlopSwap, it did a startup check and indicated 99% fresh swap written, but no warning popped up (I have the threshold set to 94%). Restarting Flopswap, it pops up the warning ok. Hmmm, seems more like a maemo issue with banners than a Flopswap problem.

Flopswap 0.2.4 uploaded to Extras-Devel.

Should fix the small bug spotted by chill above.

I upgraded to 0.2.4 yesterday and it worked fine. Today I rebooted the N900 and started Flopswap and it did not perform a check. The checkbox in the settings is on. I shut down Flopswap, started it again, it didn't check so I pressed the Check button. It seems to be checking on start fine now.

Start Flopswap in Portrait > Check. After the check the UI is borked.

Can't confirm that. I'm on CSSU-thumb and the UI still normal after the procedure above.

For me it looks like that: the UI is constantly switching between the layouts
Code:
Fresh swap | Swap to device
Data
Check
and
Code:
Fresh swap
Swap to device
Data
Check
but after some time the UI stabilized

IIRC this was so it didn't show incorrect values at boot like the previous version.
After a reboot you will get "Refresh" until you "Check" for the first time.

I can't reproduce your issue.
I would assume something is telling the application to switch between portrait and landscape modes.
This method of orientation detection is used on a good few Qt applications. Do you experience any issues with others?

Please try increasing the font size +1 in theme customizer. this may be the cause.

While the layout is changing, the fresh swap buttons changes its width by about a milimeter

sixwheeledbeast: can you please upload flopswap onto github (or another git service)?

I'd like to do a couple of improvements to the scripts in order to adjust them for automated usage. But I'd rather not make it by waving my hands and putting random code blobs over the whole net.
