I understand all the hurt feelings, but I did my homework, I knew what to expect from my phone. It was more than I could have imagined. As long as this community is still active and my N900 still makes phone calls I'm happy. When the next open linux based phone hits the market I'll deccide what to do. Until then my phone is a N900!

The evil empire just insta gibbed their FOSS champion in the marketplace.

For most here, its ideological, nothing to do with their N900s.

Meego was my great hope for that but now i see no other company building an open linux phone.
That makes the N900 even more precious - the last truly open phone

Edit : I just hope the alien dalvik comes to maemo

I hope Elop doesn't kill the N900 and the price won't rise of the N900 since it became the last best phone.

I love the device, finding more and more I love Maemo on it. Not a fan of the prevailing iPhone like UI's. Debian core makes it all the more lovable to me. With care it has done well for me [even have a backup device stored away].

Oh dear. Looks like I will have to buy another N900 as well.

Augh!

Still: "Nokia still plans to ship a MeeGo-related product later this year."

Thanks for the link. Here's hoping success to that project and any others that are willing to give those wanting not to succumb to the powers of Google and Microsoft options.
