Dukto (http://www.msec.it/dukto/) is an easy file transfer tool designed for LAN use. It supports many platforms including GNU/Linux, Windows and Mac, Android and BlackBerry 10.

Using it, you can easily send and receive files to/from other users if they also have dukto installed. Therefore, you can use WiFi file transfers instead of bluetooth, which is usually much faster.

Anybody can send files to you with dukto, and you can send any files to them.

However, notice that Dukto is not designed for security; don't keep it running or people can send you large amount of data without your confirmation.

This version is compiled from upstream sources with almost no changes. Later versions (if any!) might provide better integration into Harmattan.

You can get it from OpenRepos:
https://openrepos.net/content/hedayat/dukto

Dukto main features are:

Simple user interface
No server or internet connection needed
Zero configuration
Clients auto-discovery
High speed file transfer
Multi-OS native support
Multi files and folders transfer
Transfers log
Send and receive text snippets (eg. useful for sending URLs)
Open received files directly from the application
Show your IP addresses on the IP connection page
Full Unicode support
Metro style UI
Free and open source

Thanks, this is great, that's the one I've always been missing on the N9!

You're welcome! I'm going to have the android version with myself so that I can give it to others who want to send me (or others) big files.

Hey, is this the right place to report bugs if we find some?
I haven't had time to play with it much, but I'm looking forward to using it.

Yes; however I don't promise that I'll fix them soon. I just compiled it for N9, and it needs some love to better integrate into it. However, it is usable right now.

Known issues:
* runs only in landscape mode (doesn't rotate)
* If you want to enter an IP address manually (usually not needed unless a system blocks some traffic), the VKS jumps up, but sometimes/usually it doesn't go away; so you might be unable to send files if someone is not visible
* default download folder is /home/user, which is not a good place for N9. I should have changed it to /home/user/MyDocs/Downloads/. I'll fix it in the next version. However, you can change the download folder in the settings panel easily. So, it's not a bug but a nice to have change.

Those are the 3 comments I was going to make.
A more native-to-harmattan and touch friendly file picker would be nice as well.
