Don't have N900, but I would assume no updates would give somekind of "no updates" message.

i would have thought a 'no updates' response would be normal. also suprised if weight of traffic should take them by surprise.

run-standalone.sh python2.5 /opt/witter/witter.py
This will generate diagnostic output. Without this I cannot help you.

HTTP response code 404 means (document) not found.
So if it is the HTTP code the update site or file was not in place and it should be no N900 bug. Try to retrieve it via PC suite!

If you try https://a248.e.akamai.net/fremantle/203 (the server name that the certificate belongs) to you get:
