Just charged the N900. Connectivity isn't so good. I have to let it sit at one place, can't move it around. Still, at least it can charge

Yes you should flash, it will clear all crap from previous owner and allows you to start fresh. Do emmc and rootfs aka combined

Sadly, the wiki is inaccessible for me.

It doesn't randomly stop charging, just annoying for the fact that I can't move it around or it will disconnect.

The flashing is quite different than N9. By different I mean scarier. The wiki is all over the place, is there a friendlier guide?. (Accessing it by cache)

Hello, I should be getting my first N900 real soon now and already have been hearing horror stories about people ripping USB ports off. Those who have soldered it down good as in those pictures I saw... does it really work?

The reason why I am curious is that I have not seen the failure mode of these connectors, does it just rip off of the solder or does it take the pads off with it (indicating the copper foils on the board aren't well attached to the FR4)? If it's the latter it seems like I should add epoxy to the connector onto the board versus adding solder, such that a bit of the epoxy will grab onto the bottom side of the board. Adding a bit of solder wouldn't hurt as it will have a bit more copper to hold on to...
