I saw this selling on eBay, I'm assuming it is fake. How worried should I be about ending up with something like this?

Ebay offers a returns policy for fake items. Or "falsely advertised products" is how i believe they put it. So even if you did by this '12 megapixel wide angled Symbian^ 3 OS phone' (according to the photo) then you will be able to make a claim and get a refund.

I would suggest you check the sellers feed back before ordering from them, double check what other products that they are selling and look at there seller rating. Anything below 90% i would stray away from. I usually don't go below 95%, some aren't 100% because you get some very petty people on ebay.

Are you definitely sure you want this phone? If so i'd recommend buying from a website where most people here have got theres so you know it's legit. Or at least posting a thread in the Buy section of the forum

Are you the same guy that just posted in the availability thread about magenta 64GB?
Add that to your alarm bells that it's a dubious sales offer....

The N9 I was referring to in the other thread was for another magenta N9 64gb eBay auction.

Well there's no such thing as a Magenta N9 64GB, I can promise you that.
64GB has only ever come in Black & White, and that's what they've said officially on several occasions.
Unless it's some special edition, retro-fitted Chinese version, which I'd be very skeptical about.

Here's how the N9 Fakes look:

CAUTION:

The 'actual' Nokia-N9 DOESN'T COME with 'SD card slots', it is not 'dual-SIM' and there is no 32Gb model [most fakes claim to have a 16 & 32Gb model].

The 'original' N9 only has 2 slim trap doors on the top, one for the SIM card & the other for the USB port. While the fakes have 2 elongated-stout-revolving trap doors.

FYI, the trap doors of the fakes r tad stronger/robust than the original [beat that!]. Besides, the fakes come with 7 OS [yeah, iOS, Andy, WP-7, MeeGo etc. all r covered] and their hottest selling color is 'green' and 'white'!

a) Pls see an article on N9 fakes here:

b) Here's a video of the N9 fake as well:

c) This is the 'White' fake:

Here is a 64gb Magenta example on eBay. Uses a stock photo and is very coy in the description.
