Hello everyone

i've seen some members from my own country (syria) having problems using Nokia and Ovi repositories always ends with 443 error
while extras,extras-devel are working

but hopefully i have solved the problem once and for all

HowTo:

1-) enable extras (they are supposed not to be blocked)
2-) install TOR from HAM or
Code:
sudo gainroot
apt-get install tor status-area-applet-tor tor-geoipdb
Now after doing that .. you should reboot N900
then go to status menu and activate TOR (The Onion Router)

now the most important step
download the attachement (00maemo.tar.gz)
place it in MyDocs

then
Code:
sudo gainroot
tar xzvf MyDocs/00maemo.tar.gz
cp 00maemo.tor /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/00maemo
---------

Now activate Nokia, Ovi, or any other blocked repository
try to update

everything MUST go well

To restore: (this is needed if you want to update without using TOR)
Code:
sudo gainroot
cp 00maemo.orig /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/00maemo
Hope This Help Many Users

PS: Don't delete the files extracted at /home/user/
which are 00maemo.tor and 00maemo.orig
Attached Files
File Type: gz 00maemo.tar.gz (363 Bytes, 726 views)

@dadoabdallah
well
i believe you are doing fapt-get update instead of apt-get
because that is the only explanation of ur problem

personally i always update from apt-get update
and having no problems with it
so
there should be no problems with apt-get if u did exactly what's @1st post

@abuakram
theoretically yes but iptables problem is expected
else it should work on ubuntu too but there is something else than 00maemo (maybe 01ubuntu or 00linux) or maybe something else

check your self

You can use VPN connections through the work account from your iPhone or Android and then take the account information and paste it in the program VPN which is found in the catalogs and then you will see in the drop-down list

I do not think that it work the way of Karam with the use of the VPN program
You can also use the VPN program without using anything else but I see it very slow

you would have to make your question more clear

if you mean using TOR as VPN or proxy
then it's ultra easy as it's designed to be so
there is an firefox plugin called tor button > google it
it's very handy
or manual configs
http is localhost
port for http is 8118
socks5 ip is localhost
for socks5 is 9050

and if you mean you want to use TOR then a VPN on it
then it is possible too but
VPN over TOR
you net speed will die

and it's not recommended

as for SSH tunnels
again
yes, but you'll need to configure your SSH client to use TOR
not sure how to do that though
