Hi All,

From where (preferably in US) can I order spare torx screws for my N9 ? I ended up stripping the head for a couple of them while trying to change the housing.

I checked out http://stellatech.com/articles.php?lang=en&cid=10315
but shipping cost is way too much !
Nothing available on ebay.

Thanks in advance.

Dont destroy torx, solder it head and then unscrew

Why did I not think of that??? It sounds brilliant! Have you actually tried it, though?

My N9 has been lying open for 2 months, with 4 stripped screws awaiting attention. With this trick, it may have a chance to live again!

@pichlo sure, it works great with small mobile torx, just use some acid and good soldering, attach screwdriver and wait while solder cooling, and unscrew it

Thanks for the idea coderus !

I was thinking of using a dremel and then unscrew them. If spares are available then might as well replace them with new ones.

On Ebay screws are available for Lumia's. Trying to read Lumia's service manuals to see if they fit N9.

For those in US - Lumia 900 has size 4 M1.4x3.8 screws and Lumia 800 has size 5 M1.4 x 3.6 screws. You are pretty much out of luck otherwise.

And which one's are needed for what/where? (Would be kind to add. And where you got them from.)

@peterleinchen

I stripped two M1.4x3.8 screws that hold chassis side hook and I lost one screw that is under USB door.

For now I managed without them but on ebay you will find screws available for Lumia's. If you are based in Europe there are websites that sell N9 spares. Just that its too expensive to ship them to US.

I also asked a couple of ebay sellers but none of them carry N9 spare screws.
