I caught an old episode of TNG (Best of both worlds - a classic!) and was wondering are there any LCARS themes available for the N900?

LCARS wouldn't really lend itself well to the current layout of M5 sadly...

Lcars generally has:

| |
-----------------
-----------------
| |
| |
| |
| |

Style layout while M5 has:
|________________|
|
|
|
|

So basically no side bar or much of anything...

For colours and such it should be possible... but getting the style I doubt it

Sad because LCARS seems like the perfact UI for touchscreen devices.

I was working on one, but the Maemo 5 layout is indeed pretty much unsuitable to build one. But I might get back to it someday when I have time.

Maybe eventually there will be an alt interface through Mer which would bring something usable or more free-ly controlable interface.

Sadly I probably won't attempt the LCARS themes for the reasons mentioned above, but I am working on the Okuda theme (loosely based on the touchscreen UIs in the ST:TOS films) for Maemo 5. I actually just posted some screenshots before seeing this thread.

Wow, that looks very good, I highly recommend you to finish it.

ian is one of the best. I hopes he finds any easy way to add icons and shares it with us.

Nods I was always very impressed at how well it worked on the N810. Almost like the UI was designed for it.

It could be faced using background for left side bar and requiring you to place icons down the left side in just the right place
