This weekend at FOSDEM I presented a bit more about what I'm doing past my employment at Jolla.

First off, the Cuteboot project, a means to put your own UX on top of most Android device, slides here

Within that talk I also announced what me and a bunch of others are working on for a bit now, something called The Human Web. We hang out at #thehumanweb on irc.freenode.net. Webchat here.

The Human Web project seeks to empower everybody with the ability to:
  • Access, protect, control and share their identities and data
  • Securely communicate with machine and other human beings alike
  • Trade and participate in smart contracts
  • Collaborate and coordinate by themselves or together with others
  • Evolve and share their user experiences with others
  • Do all of the above without having to be tied to any middlemen

We use technologies such as:If this is something you care about and want to join the discussion in, or even contribute to the code of, feel free to join us on IRC. A bit of an infopackage with a lot of the surrounding inspirations, can be found at https://github.com/thehumanweb/notes/wiki/InfoPackage

I don't really understand what The Human Web is all about. But Cuteboot (stripping out a lot of stuff we don't want in a Android device and putting on top our own UI) sounded really interesting. It would be great if someone was working on that, or could show any successes.

It would be interesting if it was picked up by the Qt project, they already have boot-to-qt which is a similar sort of thing but doesnt leverage the device adaptation in the same way that Cuteboot does.

But if you want a single purpose device running Qt on an android device then cuteboot is a good way to achieve that
