i couldnt understand why microsoft build this os... i cant imagine that there were so much restriction. today is free world, people want to do things like they do.. oh! i forgot bill gates believe that software is not free from the day one.. so if you want non restricted wp7.5 please buy wp7.5 ultimate version... lol.. i also believe that my life is also lag there and there.. also sometime sluggish everywhere... but it is not restricted me to do things that i love to do. i just cannot live in the restriction when i cannot do this and that even if its flying and lightning fast.. whats the meaning of life if you can just lightning run to the restroom (for that purpose) but there are no flushing toilet!!! ha ha ha

[QUOTE=Kein;1204710]Care to comment on this Lumiaman? Or forever hold your peace.

101 REASONS NOT TO BUY A WINDOWS PHONE 7.5

OS LIMITATIONS
1. No true multitasking - apps are frozen in the background.

Neither in N9. You move from the multitasking page and everything freezes also. Some pages are obscured and disappear from the screen.
2. No Divx/Xvid video codec support. Zune will convert with loss of quality.
Crappy USB port, plastic hinge and door that fall apart
3. No mass storage mode.
Screen stutters like you are looking at the 1960s TV sets
4. No micro-SD card support.
Opening of apps lags, sometimes have to wait 5 or more seconds to get it opened, trying to move between screens and apps causes stuttering
5. Only support up to 16GB storage .
Email search function is horrible. Sent emails are not automatically uploaded, one has to go to the directory to refresh it
6. No filemanager. Directory system is totally opaque.
SMS getting mixed up between individuals
7. Need Zune to transfer files. Zune will only transfer photos, videos & music. All other files need to email/upload to yourself.
Phone is moody when charging, sometimes able, sometimes unable to tap and view the screens.
8. Your contact details are automatically uploaded to cloud service whether you like it or not.
you lose contact details in N9 and you are hosed
9. Limited to 800x480 resolution.
Same as in N9.
10. No wi-fi hotspot.
Who cares
11. Cannot use any MP3 file as ringtone except those with strict constraints.
Who cares
12. Cannot set static IP address so no connection to ad-hoc networks.

13. No VPN support for this “corporate enterprise” phone.
14. Cannot sync with Outlook.
Of course you can. Its the best email client out there, in Lumia
15. Totally closed OS, cannot sideload apps outside MS Marketplace.
Keyboard is too small, sometimes the cursor goes to the very front of the text while trying to type???
16. System font size cannot be changed.
system font size can not be changed on N9 either. Bad for both, but the font is at least nicer on Lumia
17. Images and photos cannot be renamed in the phone.
Notifications not listed on the front screen. If more than one, they are grouped
18. Windows Live ID account cannot change country once set.
Who cares
19. No centralized notification page.
When notification present on the front screen, you cant click on it to take you specifically there, you have to go to the specific screen
20. Alarm clock cannot work when phone is turned off. All Nokia Symbian and Meego phones can do this.
Plainly wrong. Alarm clock on mine works like a charm when off
21. The idle screen is completely blank and cannot display time or notifications.
Text input and corrections are inferior.
22. Only photos allowed as email attachments, documents not allowed.
Dictionary does not remember new words and does not prompt them on the next try to type
23. Bluetooth cannot stream to car audio devices (no rSAP).
Who cares
24. Cannot stream audio from video to Bluetooth devices (No A2DP).
Who cares
25. No support for full on-device encryption required for secure applications like mobile banking and online payment.
26. Cannot use Bluetooth keyboard.
Keyboard stutters on its way to appearing on the screen. Why not make that pop smooth?
27. Cannot silence ringtone or alarm by flipping the phone.
Hearing piece too small, limits audio output
28. Very limited customization option.
Photos inferior to any other 8 mp camera I have seen
29. Ugly 2D flat interface. Oversized fonts for headings treat you like an idiot.
Tiny fonts that will make you go blind, without ability to change them

USABILITY ISSUES
30. No always visible status bar for battery life, signal strength, carrier, 2G/3G wi-fi, Bluetooth on.
Who cares
31. Taskmanager has no option to shut down apps you don’t want running in the background.
Apps also down when you move from the N9 multi-tasking screen.
32. Search and Back button cannot be de-activated in apps or games and easily touched by accident which interrupt your user experience.
Web browser cant remember favorite sites
33. Lockscreen need to be activated to show missed call/sms notification.
copy and paste unable to use in emails
34. No way to close an app except pressing back button all the way to the first screen.
copy and paste laggy at times stuttering when copying large text and overall horrible

35. Tiny fonts in messages is very hard to read for those over 45.
Welcome to N9 world of tiniest fonts every designed.
36. Cannot edit playlist or create new playlists from phone.
web browser with limited customization
37. Cannot delete a song from phone.
Cant play many of the videos on the web
38. Cannot search your music collection on the phone.
no dedicated google page with automatic GPS connection and search for nearby restaurants and areas of interest
39. Cannot close music player, can only pause. Music player on lockscreen will stay until you reboot.
Complete lack of good apps.
40. No progress bar for current track playing and no indication which track in an album is playing
keyboard layout is plain stupid, with point next to the space bar, always inserting points in my text
41. Cannot lock screen orientation.
Weather can not display multiple cities at the same time
42. Online and phone contacts are mixed together with no ability to filter.
inexplicable loss of passwords for email accounts, prompting input of new email accounts that were already set up
43. Cumbersome dialing with no smartdial. No way to create a ‘Favourites’ list of phone contacts
not smart in terms of name selections when typing in email contacts
44. Cannot save draft sms messages.
does not remember most frequently used email addresses for contacts.
45. Call history only show phone number type. If a contact has multiple phone nos. for a type the number used is unknown.
not syncing immediately, with intermittent good and bad push email notifications.
46. Cannot recognize phone numbers in sms or email to save or use as calling number.
skype calls suck
47. Text messages can only be deleted one by one.
photo editing is horrible
48. Cannot select multiple pictures for deleting, sending or uploading. They must be done one at a time.
cant adjust fonts of SMS and IM
49. Notification for recurring events is only given once and none thereafter.
One boring screen with all the apps
50. Apps are listed alphabetically with no way to group by category. Can be hard to find if you don’t remember the name.
even normal press to open apps causes it to go into editing mode
51. Calendar scheduler has no weekly view and monthly view is non-zoomable.
moving from month to month within calendar is laggy and stutters
52. No peak/off-peak scheduling for email downloads.
alarm notifications require swiping up, how stupid is that?
53. If both wi-fi and data connection are available which one it chooses to use is unpredictable. User experiences don’t agree with Microsoft that it “typically” choose wi-fi over 3G.
phone call requires swiping up, how stupid is that?

Either the N9 you have/had was a cheapo Chinese rip-off imitation or you simply couldn't fathom it out.

And making 'comparisons' such as this -

2. No Divx/Xvid video codec support. Zune will convert with loss of quality.
Crappy USB port, plastic hinge and door that fall apart

is simply nonsense

I can't say my N9 never lags, but when it does, what's really not that often, it lasts only a couple of seconds.. it's very smooth most of the time.

Maybe he has never seen an Android phone, which lags even with a dualcore.

This list is hard to believe. I played with a Lumia and did not find the phone interesting, just nothing for me.

But I was not aware that WP7 is that bad. Incredible.

Kein, thanks for posting and linking to the source. And even more thanks to SamKB who originally posted this list on my-symbian.com.

Once this list gets wide spread, it gets even tougher for Nokia / Flop / BoD to defend what they are doing. Simply unbelievable.

Your first point about multitasking.

You do realise nobody cares about this in the real world?

No OS has multitasking like Maemo/MeeGo. So nobody other than us really know about it, therefore the majority couldnt give a monkeys about it..

Also you probably spent hours typing that up. Its a bit of a joke seriously. No phones are better then the other, just different, and peoples oppinions are what makes up the differences..
