I promise tell my experiences as new user with Nokia N810.
I hope this thread helps people that has bought N810 after 2017.
Feel free to comment and ask and answer questions.

That stand is more useful when you keep hand. You can keep N810 very steady with 3 fingers with that stand. Menu button is also very useful with full screen button.

New miniSD card is hard to find and luckily my N810 comes with microSD to miniSD card adapter so I have to test my Sandisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-1 card 64 GB And it is amazing: N810 formatted it nicely and shows 59 GB free and works.

But where to get more room for applications to internal eMMC?. Control Panel / Memory/Device shows that there is only 30 MB free for applications and 1.8 GB for data. I had similar problem with N900: 2 GB for applications and 30 GB for data,

I had this solution with N900:
- I install Backupmenu and started with it to USB mass storage mode without starting OS. (If OS started normally, you can't repartition internal eMMC)
- I put N900 to Linux PC and it shows N900 as USB disk.
- I resize partitions N900 internal eMMC with PC Linux Gparted program to 16 GB for applications and 16 GB data without losing anything (if you do this, remember backup, because there can be always risk to data loss).

But how to do that with N810?
- Is there ever made BackupMenu for N810?
- If yes, in what repository?
- If not, is there another possible way to start USB mass storage mode on N810 without start OS?

You can clone the operating system on the N810 onto the external micro sd card, and run it from there, I believe that is the best way to gain extra space to run additional applications and increase storage space (for music, etc)

I have one of my tablets running from a Sandisk 200GB card without any issues.

The n810 has 256meg and 2gig internal flash, the OS is installed to the 256meg. You need to install a boot menu and clone the 256meg partition to the 2gig or 64gig partitions. This not only gives you more space for apps, but makes recovering from crashes easier. Maemo can crash, corrupt some service and then endlessly reboot. If this happens, you can boot into the 256meg partition(secondary OS), mount the larger partition(primary OS), turn on syslogd (make sure this is installed but disabled) and reboot to primary OS. After it fails, boot back into secondary OS, read the log on primary OS partition and fix whatever broke. Then disable syslog and enjoy not needing to re-install.

look to my walkthrough..."Pimp my N8X0"...
it covers pretty much everything for the n8x0 to set it up...in a written walkthrough and needed links..and including a video walkthrough.

Big thanks for your work already.

Let see..after first video I check again my Maemo version, because I wanted know do I have to do that. Control Panel shows version 5.2008.43.7 and then It wasn't easy to find wiki information is that new or old Maemo for N810, so here is the link for others: https://wiki.maemo.org/Codenames
And it said: OS2008, Diablo, 4.1.3, 5.2008.43-7, December 2008, Third SSU update
It was last before Meamo 5. So I think it's newest Meamo for N810. So I think I don't have to do what is in video 1. Or is there any reason to downgrade?

This link make me more think that should I downgrade:
https://web.archive.org/web/20140313...nguinbait.com/
or is this old information:
INSTALL TOOLS < 43-7
INSTALL TOOLS EXTERNAL 810 SLOT < 43-7
BOOTMENU INSTALLER < 43-7
MGMT-TOOLS (GUI INSTALL TOOLS) (REQUIRES GPARTED) < 43-7

You want community SSU and diablo turbo kernel. Both can be found at http://maemo.qzx.com/, along with cloning instructions.

yup.

It isn't that you are downgrading..
It is that you need to flash a pristine stock of diablo (then put only what is expected to accomplish what is needed next ..to avoid conflict or complication..) if you wish to then go the next steps further with cssu, asui, and diablo turbo.

Of course it depends on what your intended usage is....
you may want to study a flash version ....or utilize a specific from an iteration of some earlier flash version

And ,,.... NO
you do not need to downgrade to utilize peguinbait's tools..
these particular tools have been integrated into console tools v1 ...
which works fine for diablo.

Just remember please...

If the intent is to learn how to do something ...
read said instructions ..do not deviate in replication ...
and you will be fine..

If the intent is to study, dissect, alter, refine, and / or come up with innovation ..from a methodology, process, program, or function...
then the expectation is that you already know the basics .....

Do what all instructions ask of you in whichever members walkthrough...and you will replicate the same results required in your n8x0

Some instructions may state that they will not work with earlier or later os versions ..
Some instructions may say that they have alternatives in this case for said versions...
Some instructions may say that issues have been noted in use with other versions...but they are on the whole functional...
Some instructions may say that there is no reason it shouldn't work with later versions ...but has not been fully tested...
I have tested penguinbaits console tools v1 enough over the years to know they work fine...
His other tools do just as good a job for the specific os or kernel versions as well...the ones he specifically points out their use for....
