n900 "supports" video on skype, but its rarely useable unless its quite bright. Front camera is an absolute joke

They should at least enable the back camera as a work-around...

Little off-topic question. How is the contact integration in Android? Can you login to gtalk, gvoice, sip, skype, and facebook all from the same interface?

I'm not the perfectly correct guy to ask, as I don't IM much, but :
Gtalk has a dedicated app, same goes for MSN (you need to download one).
Skype dedicated app which was released today, sip = don't know.
No integration into phone contacts application, BUT

Android is built upon some very nice and unique fundamentals such as Activities and Services, each app can sport several services and activities, one of those activities can be : dial and outgoing call - The phone default dialer app does that, also does skype with skypeout, contacts CAN include skype info / other info. So i believe the integration is possible, with the help of a few applications.
Even the whole homescreen can be replaced with an application implementing an activity, for example launcher pro.

Skype just released an android version for all android 2.1 phones (and maybe 2.2)

It works over 3g / wifi without extra costs besides data plan if applies.

Unless, of course, you're in the US -- then it's WiFi-only. It's not clear whether this is Google's decision (with pressure from their Verizon deal) or Skype's decision (to stay on good terms with all carriers), but it definitely cripples it.

From what I understand your reply and based on my little previous hands-on experience on Nitdroid, still Android contact management and IM + talk + video integration are nowhere %20 closer to what Maemo5 provides currently. Unification is the key here.

Again with stock android, you are correct. But the way android is designed allows to solve this with a third party app easily. (I'm not sure one exists though).
