Don't do that. Really.

I like Your N900 painting, and it would be extreme pity to lose it due to unwise over-overclocking. Above 900 mhz, it's pure numerology, and Your performance gain is rather placebo one.

Hi, Estel!

To me it is actually quite big leap to 900 MHz -> 1.15 GHz.
It is noticeable performance boost when I am using MyPaint.

I have now constantly used N900 with max 1.15 GHz clock speed.. almost 2 years now.

I know that there are devices that can not handle about 900 MHz clock speed without problems.
So, I do not recommend to overclock devices. This can vary so much device to device.

I only hope that Nokia or other manufacturer could do proper SkechBook digital device
with good pressure sensitivity.

N900 resistive screen is quite amazing, pressure sensitivity is so analog and accurate
and we can draw with proper "pen" not "stylus". I like it a lot.

Thanks!

Having first hand tried my hands on tweaking the phone to the most maximum stable speed possible, I'd say there's credit to what CreativeTone said, and it's not just a "placebo effect." Pen stroke lags can be observed at lower clock speeds compared to when you overclock it.

Also, I notice the tendency for MyPaint to crash on attempts to run it while overclocked at the least stable speeds (mine starts from past 950MHz and outright reboots when I set it to 1.15GHz), so I played along with overclocking and tried starting MyPaint from the terminal to see the error messages it prints upon crashing. Well, my limit is 950MHz so yeah...

I' ve been wanting to ask you but kept forgetting. As I noticed the pen in the strawberry vid (that's yours, right?), could you recommend something for an absolute beginner in drawing? With beginnner, I mean beginner. I haven't drawn since I was a little kid, but atm I am enjoying a beginners book with great pleasure. Thanks to this thread and the n900.

The stylus, though, kind of sucks, and I'd be more than happy to pay for something more comfortable. The question is, what's a reasonable price and what do you look for?

Hi, anthonie!

You can try to make your own one.
Pick your favourite pen and modify that.

I am using this: Pilot Super Grip 0.5 Mechanical Pencil + Wacom Plastic Nib,
plus some variants with "smaller nib" and some odd ones.

I haven't drawn since I was a little kid
Now is time to go back to there and start drawing again.

Excuse me guys, I'm off to the last 76 pages of this thread, thanking every single post of Creativetone's.

Don't just thank him only. There's a lot of other gems (and some strange things too I must say) that can be appreciated
