Anyone has an idea how to initiate a fake call? With the easily accesible from lockscreen shortcuts, having an app that would after some delay (to move hand outside of pocket) generate a fake call you reallly really need to answer would be perfect, but I have no idea how to/where to even start.

Could be a simple bash script that just waits for half a minute and then makes a fake dbus call, but again, not sure if there is documentation about this or one would need to capture the call themselves (if it is dbus even, just guessing)

From lockscreen I would say it is not possible.
But have a look at the eSpeakTime sources for triggering eSpeak with double-click of power button in locked state.
And instead eSpeak message start the ringing tone (how to: ???).

Oops, sorry. Totally wrong answer as I missed it is in SFOS section

It should be possible, for an easy/poor implementation just execute media player with path to your ringtone, but would really like to have the full fakedness: switched on screen blinking, with the pulley menus, hmm maybe easier to just copy jolla's qml code for call ui and invoke that without 'faking' a call to the phone itself

patch callui and add faking functions, or just clone callui interface and make a fun app.

Thanks, app seems the better option as you can then easily add a shortcut to the pulley menu (for pocket operating), this should be relatively easy (only worry is you could get a call while fake call is on, however unlikely it is, would make for an awkward moment)

Not necessarily. "Sorry mate, got another call ringing, may I put you on hold?"

Have the app silence (or airplane mode) the phone on fake answer, then restore on fake hang-up?

This is where the original idea of faking a call so the phone thinks it's 'busy' would help, as would eliminate edge cases. If you silence, then you cannot play the tone, if you put on airplane mode you can miss an actual important call. Each approach has good and bad sides hmmm

Options in the app's settings:
  • Accept incoming calls
  • Turn to silent but accept incoming calls
  • Turn to offline mode
