I've been asked to create an app variant of the RaeMote desktop widget for easier usage and to not clutter up desktop space while the remote is not used. I'd like to have a nice UI for this, so I'm looking for a good screen design for the app.

As the app makes use of the CIR port, I don't think a portrait mode app makes much sense (as holding the device in portrait mode covers the port), so you just have to create a 800x424 landscape design of the remote. The layout should be so that the buttons are big and easy to operate while holding the N900 in landscape mode. The following buttons should be covered:
  • Volume +/Up
  • Volume -/Down
  • Previous song/Left
  • Next song/Right
  • Play/Pause/Enter
  • Menu/Back

As a reminder, the real Apple Remote looks like this:

Thanks for your help

Could be improved on but a start I guess.

Edit: Ive also added some icons which could be used, and are quite nice.

BTW... Ive just noticed you said widget... you could use the circular part of it, ill have a think of getting the menu in.

Thanks! Can you make the "outer ring" a bit thicker to be easier to hit with a finger? Also, I'd probably need overlays that have the buttons in "pressed" state, so that the user will have a nice visual. That's easy for the "menu" button, but might be a bit difficult for the other buttons, unless you visually split them apart (as in the second generation iPod).

I don't have any Apple products so I can't test this out myself. But is there support for the hold button for X second functions? Also unlikely are the button combinations so you may want to add a seperate buttoh that'll simulate that.

Thanks. Can you provide the middle one there as SVG? I'm thinking of getting the background image from the theme/current desktop and taking the colors from the current theme, to blend in, while keeping your layout.
