Are there any theme that was designed exclusively to shorten load times? I don't care too much how it looks except that it must have black background, just like the original. Or, alternatively it must have an explanation why is non-black background faster. Notice, I'm not saying that it is.

Try the incredibly uninspired, dull and blocky theme #154. I don't know if it was designed with speed in mind, but it's small and it's as simple as it gets. And it's got a black background.

I'm using it daily since forever.

I painted some (nearly all) backgrounds of the default maemo theme black (water drops can be expensive), reduced the size by a few mbs, it is small now too and not so alien

Im wondering if i should pack it in a fs-file with 512 byte page size (to reduce size even further) and copy it to /dev/shm (put it in ram forever) and bind mount? Or if sapwood is enough caching.

I also love that theme! I've also been using it for years. Somehow it reminds me of the 8-bit days, perhaps a Commodore C64... that may be the colours more than anything.
