I want to build a list akin to /etc/ringtones but for clock alarms. So I was looking for some kind of config file for the stock clock app but could not find it. I know that I can choose a custom alarm sound through the GUI but it has three drawbacks: 1) it only supports one at a time, chosing another one wipes out the previous choice; 2) it has to be in MyDocs and 3) I can't use a cutom name: it ends up listed under its file name, including the .mp3 or whatever.

Of these, 1) is the most annoying which is why I want to build my own list.

Oh and yes, I am aware of flipclock but I did not want anything that fancy.

Wikiwide, you are a star!

I did not find that post before, was probably searched for the wrong keywords.

EDIT:
Still not entirely perfect as (if I understand it correctly) all I can do with it is customize the pre-existing alarm tones, which is what I can do by simply replacing the relevant sound files in /usr/share/sounds/. But at least I get the idea that it is not as simple as ringtones. Pity.
