I had the same problem with "waiting for phone" on the map loader and the n900. The problem was that the Nokia PC suite was still running; once I exited the Nokia PC suite application (be certain to exit also on the icon on the systray) then the map loader worked fine.

so, you need an SD card to make it work? what if i don't have one

How do you turn on your GPS? what settings do you use, I enabled it and it is still showing no reception

Doesn t work.....running on win 7 32bit running maps application in xp comp mode and phone in mass storage mode it is not able to detect the phone

same problem. do i have to connect to internet to get located? 'cause when i'm on the road, it often shows "no gps signal".. even if i have the map

a related google maps question:

I have been playing little with google maps and seem to like it. Looks like it is the best alternative for now. In the hover mode, you can double tap to zoom in.

But is there a way to zoom out of the map? I couldn't find an option to do that.
