All:

I've been dealing with a buyer from Germany and having issues with the fact that the US Post Office is the cheapest route (DHL was over $100 USD compared to $40 for US Post), but the US Post won't ship lithium batteries internationally. Apparently there's a fire hazard on international flights that the batteries have agreed to forego on domestic flights (i.e. it's utter nonsense).

I'll look into DHL again, but when I got an online quote from them it was sky high.

Okay, the US Post Office lifted their ban on lithium batteries on November 15, 2012, but now Germany will not accept packages containing lithium batteries:
