I updated my Gemini PDA to 3.0.3.9 yesterday and was pleased with most of the changes. The browser had a bit of love, and now feels more desktop like (which is a good thing). The one problem I have is that webgl has stopped working. Previously, I was running 3.0.1.11, and webgl worked fine. When I updated, the first time I started the browser, get.webgl.org reported I had webgl and I saw the rotating
cube.

The second time I started the browser, I went to my 3d printer control page, and it said I didn't have webgl. I went back to get.webgl.org, and lo and behold, no webgl. I checked the browser setting with about:config, and they were correct. Any ideas? Could another app somewhere have been updated which overrides/removes the GL libs?

Anyone else have this problem - whilst not critical, the loss of webgl is a bit of a blow, especially as it only became functional in 3.0.1.11 (for me).

Cheers.

Ok, to answer my own thread, it seems the config was corrupted. I didnt modify it, however by copying the default /usr/share/sailfish-browser/data/prefs.js to .mozilla/mozembedded, everything started working again. I've kept a copy of the broken prefs and will check out the diff later (busy now).

So if anyone else has WebGL problems, it appears that the prefs are to blame. I visited a streaming site (australian iview) which first of all said that mobile devices arent supported, but second time it went through. I know that on a desktop once it had to load a drm plugin, so maybe something under the hood is modifying the config. More on that later....

To answer my own question, it appears that one of the streaming sites I tested (abc iview) tried to load plugins (drm). This messed with the config and voila, webgl stopped working.

Copy /usr/share/sailfish-browser/data/prefs.js to .mozilla/mozembed and you are good to go. I kept a copy of the old prefs file, so when I have a bit more time, I'll diff them and find out what went wrong.
