Noticed that ping no longer worked for nemo user.
I fixed that by adding nemo to net_raw group, however cannot recall if it was so before and the group was dropped or has busybox behaviour changed?

If somebody has not yet updated their device, could you please do "groups" as nemo and check if net_raw is there?

That's how it is on the N900 too. I never understood the rationale behind it. Why is ping so sensitive it needs root?

Thanks, just as I thought; the problem is tightening of priviliges in busybox.
The default for 2.2.0.29 are exactly same but I had to add 3004(net_raw) to make ping work...

Sounds like your SD card got a new mount point and the gallery is still showing the old picture index. At least take the time to check whether everything is actually gone before boldly claiming it is.

Well that's how it is.
I kind of *know* that there are prepaid sims. but I have never used one. Or held one in my hand. (I have seen those in sale though, in shops but never bothered to buy one)
Those are mostly used by gangsters and drug-dealers to hide their identity...

Well ping itself is not that sensitive, the thing it needs is raw socket access which kind of is a sensitive issue

The correct way to do it would be to use setcap to add just cap_net_raw to /bin/ping or even better, use filesystem ACL to give the correct capabilities-per-user to the binary.
Assigning user to net_raw is an overkill IMHO but miles better than the ancient make-ping-seuid-root-kludge

Are we looking at the same Gallery? Finally the dumb semi-split-screen view is gone, and the picture no longer jumps all over the place as soon as you tap the screen.
