I just read this article here.

There's not much info apart from him saying that he received it in the mail and has no instructions on how to build the image.

I'm not familiar with this organisation but judging from their previous articles it may be legit.

EDIT: Never mind... just googled henri tanskanen and found this thread.

Nosph3ratu: yes, everything is legit.

The sources can be asked directly to Nokia. If you read the terms on the About in the N9, they have there the instructions. I contacted them asking for the source and they were kind enough to send us a DVD with the source code.

EDIT: BTW: not familiar with our organization? Not a problem. If there's anything you'd like to know that's not on the website or on the blog, just ask.

Doesn't that contain the original original source? We're at PR1.3. Even if we try to add stuff and recompile somehow, we'll still be downgrading. Not sure how to react to this. =/

I didn't yet have the chance to check out the contents of the DVD, but I will later today and post any relevant info on the blog.

The way I read your picture, you got everything that was theoretically already available to everyone. Which sounds nice, but no big deal.

I don't know how much of it is currently available to everyone since the link to the repositories is pretty much dead now. So, you got the "theoretically" right.
We were just sharing a nice package Nokia had the amability to send.

Does it meant that Swipe UI is open sourced? What else is? Nokia since long used to provide DVDs of the open source (kernel and etc.) components, as per GPL compliance. But Swipe UI was never under GPL or any other open source license. Does it mean that now it is?

No, it's just the regular GPL-licensed content DVD for PR1.3
