But yeah, he's probably busy with his life so it's best not to bother him
I'd like to kick myself for not choosing CS and delving into development because if I could I'd be coding emulators for the N900 right now like there's no tomorrow.

as IzzehO posted before, he is no full fledged programmer. but the reason he posts and "leads" a lot these days is because he has first/second hand access to compiled packages, and he knows a good amount of knowledge with these packages.
now smokku and javispedro (to mention a couple), are those programmers who may or may not post as regularly as possible because the thing is: it's not their obligation (is it?). besides, many of these "games" you're talking about are just ports/counterparts of apps developed by others within the Linux community (not maemo only) OR ports of consoles that are "licensed" by game companies (who really made the games).
i could say CODE IT YOURSELVES YOU NON-GEEKS, but I can say I have basic to moderate level of programming myself so..... yeah.

I WOULD be surprised if one person comes to this forum and asks "I WOULD LIKE TO CODE A CHIP-8 EMULATOR SO I COULD GET STARTED WITH PROGRAMMING! COULD SOMEONE HELP ME WITH BASICS OF PROGRAMMING SO I COULD DO IT MYSELF?? kthxbye"
