Hi, I just found out about this project on kickstarter, it's not mine, so i don't think is spam if I post the link.

As you can assume is a modular case that allow to add features to your phone, obviously for now they talk only of iPhone 6, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge or Samsung Galaxy S5.

The concept is similar of that of PhoneBlock, or Project Ara, if you're familiar.

On their site there's a poll for adding your phone to the list of phones the company will be working on.

I wanted to share this with the sailfish community, so maybe we can have this on our Jolla ( and hopefully on the Jolla 2 ) developed by nexpaq, or maybe a sailfish developer could have the idea of building a TOH compatible with their modules

Funny, it'd be like ARA of phone cases!

Sorry to be "that guy" but... a $50k goal is suspiciously low.
Either they know something we don't, or they are shamefully naiive.
I expect it to fail even more miserably than ARA.

Well, they're already at 82% of their goal and it launched yesterday (I think?), so I'd say they're doing pretty good! They also understand they need a community and are developing a SDK... I dunno, it all sounds pretty good to me

Only thing is, I'm hesitant about the quality of the materials, the wear and tear of the connecting/slide-in mechanism, whether or not it really works... (a.k.a. how error-prone is it), and the thickness of the case, meaning, how does it hold? Other than that, cool development I'd say!

3 things

1- Yeah I agree stupid-suspiciously low goal.
The video shows the modules being casually tossed around by fashionable people. At best ...faddish "the latest shiny" as quick to fall out of favour and disappear.

2-Great for ifone and droyd SPECIFIC models they build for.
Every other model and other devices by other manufacturers...obviously are going to be out of luck.

3-Just like the Keurig pods...or plastic bottled water (for example : did you know the energy cost to produce 1 plastic bottle for filtered water is the equivalent of 1000 glasses of ordinary filtered tap-water?)...wastefully filling up landfills for lazy human convenience....Mother Nature is gonna have to take another for the team with just more disposable junk.

What is it? Now everybody is on the bandwagon of modular phones?
It seems up to yesterday on IGG there was a campaign for Fonkraft, but somehow it got pulled off (perhaps at IGG staff for once they used their conscience rather than cashing on dreams and removed a scam)
The project has a webpage at http://www.fonkraft.com: $99 for a modular smartphone, people!

I think we should take an eye to these projects for interesting issues about TOHs implementations
