Is it possible to make the long press of volume button to skip the songs and also the cam button to pause the song. It should work even when the screen is locked.

I believe there is an app somewhere for that already, made by Qwerty12 I think before he left in a strop.

EDIT - found it

http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=59700

However, having read through some of that thread previously, I think a new, properly working, open app would be a great idea..anyone interested?

Mohammad and others are completely rewriting the Maemo Media Player in Qt, try asking if they'd implement this.

I don't know if that would be a good idea though.. Like for example, I'm one of those people that most of the time I press and hold the volume button to adjust it... I wouldn't want it to skip the song.. :/

Perhaps holding the camera key down and then the left/right volume key to go back or forward a track.

But don't you think that would be a bit complicated/annoying? The whole point of this brainstorm, as I understood, that it's suppose to make your life easier.. but if someone wants to press and hold the camera key + volume key.. wouldn't that be kind of the same as unlocking the N900 and touching the screen?? idk..

But as I said idk, it does sound nice though..

Terribly sorry for bumping this, but I just can't believe this hasn't been implemented yet (or I'm very bad at searching, in which case I apologize for my inability, and at the same time I would like to ask somebody to point me in the right direction to find such an app)

If you install shortcutd you can set longpress of the camera focus key to pause/skip etc.

Installed and tried it, but it only works if the screen is unlocked, and thats not the case when i'm listening to music and the phone is in my pocket :/ I wish there was an option to chose how the phone reacts to longer volume button press

Thanks for the tip tho'!
