I have taken to cycling quite a lot with my N900 in a Tigra BikeConsole, which is quite a good bit of kit, allowing use of the camera if you want to. The only annoyance is that you have to open it up to unlock the screen if it locks; I can use the desktop brightness applet to keep the screen on, but that's not ideal from a battery pov. I am often listening to a podacst on a BT headset (Nokia BH-503 lest anyone's interested) and it occurs to me that as the N900 doesn't respond to the call/hangup button except when calls are in progress, perhaps it could be used to unlock the screen, in much the same way as shortcutd repurposes the camera button. In fact, could it be given customisable function in the same way?
