Out of curiosity: who owns the rights and code for MeeGo/Harmattan and Swipe UI now? Did MS get those too?

Most likely they are gone with the Device and Service. MeeGo/Swipe is part of N9 and N9 is part of MS mobile anyway.

But even if they are with Nokia, Nokia won't use it anyway. They want to make easy money just licencing the name and without actual development. (apart from a launcher maybe). Bringing Maemo or MeeGo or whatever Linux OS back won't even be an option to consider for them. Too much effort required.

That's what I anticipated. Too bad...

I know that there is no chance for MeeGo to be resurrected. Just every time I use my N9 after my Android phone, I'm angry that such an awesome system as MeeGo with Swipe UI was has been thrown into (MS's) trash.

Nokia maps (Here) sold?

If this is true, then it’s not a good start for Nokia's direct or indirect return to the smartphone business.

The HERE sale was flagged months ago. From a company perspective, it made no sense whatsoever for them to keep the mapping division as it makes no profit and Nokia no longer have that platform where they can use it as a strategic advantage.

Nokia is going for Android phone licencing that's almost nailed, there are tons of map service on Android including HERE itself so why Nokia need to keep it, if they don't develop their own OS.

Just feel sorry for them they seem to pay a lot more when acquired Naviteq long time ago.

I'm gonna take a stab in the dark, and say that the pixelated images are a form of Japanese bukkake.
