I have had to use recovery mode on my new Pebble Steel. When I upgrade from Recovery v1.5.5 to v1.14.1 the bluetooth stops working on the Pebble. Pebble have given me a link to download v1.14.0. How do I access this version of the firmware with Rockwatch in order to up load to the Pebble?

Do I have to use an Android or iOS device to do this?

When I have run the upgrade process it has been very hit and miss taking many many attempts before it is successful. The upgrade process goes right through till when the "Install and run Pebble app" message appears then nothing happens. On the successful attempts the "Install and run" message appears briefly before the "loading...." message appears and the watch reboots.

Am I doing something wrong?

Is there any way to upload later versions, (e.g.2.8) of the firmware to the Pebble using Rockwatch?

From reading this forum it seems Rockwatch will still work using the later firmware. Is this correct?

Even though the N9 is no longer a "Current" phone it is an awesome phone much better than the models that followed it. I hope development of apps like Rockwatch continue

I use the 2.4 firmware - and everything works fine.
however, not every "watchfaces" can be set.
I tried to firmware 2.8, works, but worse.
to change the firmware I use android device (nexus)
Why do you need version 1.14.1?

Hi Alexxxl,

Thanks for your reply.

I don't need v1.14.1 except that's the only version offered by Rockwatch as an update. Also until your reply I was unsure whether or not Rockwatch would work with a later firmware.

I have tried using a Nokia 920 to do the update but the Pebble app for the 920 cannot update from the recovery firmware v1.5.5 so this phone is useless to me right now.

Looks like I'll have to find an Android phone and update from that.

Thanks again for your help.

Alan

I used a friends Android phone to update my Pebble. It automatically updated to 2.8.

Am I better off using 2.4.?

I like the extra features I'm now have, but am having problems getting watch faces to replace some I was using on 1.14.1

I'm looking for a a watch face like Fair forecast that I had for 1.14.1 and a time zone face that will work with the 2. series firmware and Rockwatch. Any ideas? If I want these features do I need to go back to 1.14.1?

I'm afraid there is no universal remedy.
you need to select which applications and try to work best on the firmware that will suit you.
