broken application manager
Dear Maemo people: I went to the app manager on my N900 to look for updates. the initial screen says "operation failed". Nevertheless, I asked for "updates". I again got the yellow ribbon saying "operation failed". I said "refesh". It started to work and showed a progress bar. but after a while it was "operation failed" again. finally I selected "uninstall" It said I have no apps installed. But I have 3 or 4 including two from extras-devel * I saved the app manager's log file. it is attached. it says things like
E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/downloads.maemo.nokia.com_fremantle_ssu_apps_._Pac kages

Indeed. I don't seem to have that file. the closest I have is
downloads.maemo.nokia.com_fremantle_ssu_002_._Pack ages

I have tried this several times over several days with the same result. My internet connection is good. I can download demanding web pages and audio streams. My available memory in rootfs is 87 meg per df command. My OS version is 20.2010.36-2.002

Are you having this problem?
What does it mean that this malfunction has developed?

a free-cell game that uses python and has many positive reports

Usually it either indicates a problem with one of the repositories, or some problem occurred last time it tried to update the repository. I'd suggest disabling the Nokia SSU repository in app manager, exiting app manager, then going back in and re-enabling it. That should clear out any old, broken metadata it has and force a complete redownload.

Hi,
I have an issue, when I run the xterm apt-get upgrade, I get:

The following packages have been kept back:
libqtm-12 libqtm-12-contacts libqtm-12-declarative
libqtm-12-location libqtm-12-messaging
libqtm-12-multimedia libqtm-12-publishsubscribe
libqtm-12-serviceframework libqtm-12-systeminfo
libqtm-12-versit
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 10 not upgraded.
Why I can't update these? (sorry if my question is stupid, I'm a noob)

Either they conflict with something else, or they require extra packages installing. Try running "apt-get install libqtm-12" and see whether it needs to remove packages or just install extra ones.

How are you trying to install it - app manager, fapman, apt-get, dpkg, via Ovi store, or what?
