Check for codecs needed, I don't remember the names, I think they start with gst and/or include codec in their name. use apt-cache search or aptitude to find out. Also look for mp4. Then, use tacker-cfg gui to delete tracker database and restart tracker indexing. You should also try rebooting your device before trying again to test if you can play vids.

Where is upstream project git repository?

Upstream is at https://gitorious.org/qt-mediaplayer/mediaplayer, but after being the only active developer for some time, I gave up merge requests. As a result, upstream is terribly out of date and the whole development is happening in https://gitorious.org/~gidzzz/qt-med...qt-mediaplayer.

Ask MAG for push permission to https://gitorious.org/qt-mediaplayer/mediaplayer. A lot of people (like me) thinks that upstream git repo is upstream :-)

MAG told me that I'll be added as a commiter, but it was half a year ago, so maybe he forgot. I'll ask him what's up.

Wow, MAG is fast. I've got the permissions, so expect the upstream to be up-to-date soon.

Edit: I have pushed everything to the original repository (https://gitorious.org/qt-mediaplayer/mediaplayer). I don't know why Activities page doesn't show anything (maybe it takes so long to process almost 200 commits ), but everything else seems alright.

The previous update was a regression for some people and a few interesting changes have already accumulated since then, so I guess there's no point in holding this one any longer:
  • Searching without sliding out the keyboard: slide your finger up from the very bottom of the screen to bring up the search box.
  • Support for Bluetooth headset "stop" button (thanks to pali).
  • Support for headset "phone" button with configurable action (thanks to pali).
  • Building the playlist from search results after a song is selected is now configurable.
  • Added searching and keyboard shortcuts to the radio list.
  • Disabled "Delete" in "Now playing".
  • Minor changes in the settings window: there's slightly more space and "Stop playback on exit" option is now handled by a checkbox.
  • Enabled the lost Turkish translation.

Sorry for removing "Delete" from "Now playing". I added it because of a feature request, but I didn't quite like it there and looks like I'm not alone in this. In such case I think it's better to just stick with the ways of the stock player for now.

On an unrelated note, as far as I can recall someone made a system-wide equalizer that can be used in conjunction with the media player (including OMP).

However, that project seems to be old and not up-to-date when I last attempted using it, and so far it never worked for me. Some people say that it stopped working after PR1.3 (the equalizer was done before PR1.3 came out IINM), anyone can get it to work again somehow?

I think this is one of the threads discussing the problem.
