The GPX routes have not been available for at least a week. The routes were supplied at http://www.gnuite.com/cgi-bin/gpx.cgi. Gnuite.com no longer responds to pings. I sent an email to John Costigan asking him about it but he hasn't responded. Even though Maemo Mapper doesn't seem to be supported anymore, many of us still use it. I still get over a thousand hits a month to the HowTo I wrote. I'd gladly host the route generation code but I'm at a loss as to what to do. If there's a new link for getting routes I'd like to update my HowTo so Maemo Mapper users don't loose out.

Personally I just never use Maemo Mapper. Having to have an active internet connection on a device that doesn't have a cellular connection is... rather pointless if you get off track at all. I wish Navit was decent.

I found a solution http://gpx.geotags.com/ which I can use to get Google style directions or download a GPX file from my PC. Although I've not tried this page claims that http://gpx.geotags.com/cgi-bin/gpx.c...dr=%s&daddr=%s will work within Maemo Mapper. To be honest my normal mode of getting GPX routes is with my PC anyway.

The latest version of Mappero (beta11) in Extras-Testing should solve this. It now gets directions straight from Google.

I tried it and it works really well for Maemo Mapper 2.6.2 on my N810 with OS2008 diablo. Thanks for the great find!

If I understand correctly, your comment only applies to the N900. The OP was talking about the N810, where it is still known Maemo Mapper. Please let me know if I'm missing something.

I went to "Download Route" in Maemo Mapper, and switched the Source URL from:

http://www.gnuite.com/cgi-bin/gpx.cgi?saddr=%s&daddr=%s

...to:

http://gpx.geotags.com/cgi-bin/gpx.c...dr=%s&daddr=%s

...and I am now able to download my routes again like normal. This is wonderful news! Thanks for fragos for locating & sharing the alternate solution.

I know this is a dumb question, but if I don't have a "Source URL", what do I do? When I click "about", it says I'm running "v2.6.2". I also tried updating from http://maemo.org/downloads/product/OS2008/maemo-mapper/ and it doesn't do anything. (I assume that means that I'm running the latest version.)

I'm on a N800 with (AFAICT) Diablo OS2008.

Thanks.

When I do that, it just says "Router" with a pulldown provided (the only options are "Google" and "Yandex"). There is no URL field.
