I'm experiencing strange problem lately with my N810 flashed with the latest OS2008. On random basis, fairly often (at least once-twice a day) I get whole desktop restarted. For few seconds screen goes completely white (or puzzled) and then I'm throwed back to stand-by desktop, but with all desktop and statusbar applets removed. All opened applications at that time are still running, but minimized to the left panel. It does happen randomly. Once I've had that while browsing with MicroB, last time it happened while N810 was in the pocket, doing actually nothing.

I was thinking maybe some 3rd party applet is doing some dodgy stuff, causing desktop to restart? I have simple-launcher 0.9.5, statusbar-clock 0.6-5 and osso-statusbar-cpu 0.6.1 running currently. Did anyone notice same problem, and have an idea how to deal with it? I've tried google around ITT forums, but no luck.

Also - is there some way of restarting desktop with all its applets, as a remedy to get it working properly, instead of restarting whole device? Would
Code:
killall hildon-desktop
work?

Have you tried this thread?

" Desktop is geting reset" - http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=18181

Looks like there might be some issues with the latest statusbarclock, or some other recently updated app

Cheers

Yes. I'll try to do some tests with different applets and probably modest as well over the weekend. Thanks.

I don't think modest is to blame. I got resets even before installing modest, and they stopped happening right after I uninstalled statusbarclock.

Other thing is I only run Modest when I need it, so most of the time is not running at all, when resets are happening. I also don't have automatic email check feature switched on.
