just in case anyone is interested in contributing or anything... i made this script u7knv9h/maemo-on-sd
basically it's just a simpler replacement for `nupgrade.sh` that works with any partition on both internal and external cards, without being limited to the second one (why would i want that anyway?)
for now it uses nupgrade-style phases, but i'm thinking of remaking the script using some simple "phases" like
Code:
format|mount|clone|umount
because
Code:
0|1|2|3|4
is redundant imho and also confusing (if you don't read the code you can't know what those commands are doing), what do you think?

Which order do I type the new "phrases"? "01234" isn't confusing at all, because most everyone can count up.

what's "2" supposed to do? why do i have different phases for mounting the root filesystem AND the external device?
if you don't read the code or some form of documentation that's obscure as hell
instead, you can understand "format" rather easily, and the order of operations is just logic, how could i "copy" befoure "mount" ?
for the really hard ones there is (better, is going to be) -h and some documentation!
that said, everyone is free to use whatever he likes

PS: the main goal of the script is, anyway, to make a cleaner script that can handle any device, and that it's easily readable by anyone who has spent more than 5 minutes in a posix shell; for the `just copy` thing there's already nupgrade.sh (and just now i saw console-tools that should make everything easier)

Yup console tools is grand .
Part of my cloud storage...
there is a link to it in my signature if the link here at tmo won't function (also all of penguinbait's goodies are there)
My links are a walkthrough for setting up diablo turbo up to and including on a cloned sd card using console tools v1 with all the bells and whistles as quickly and easily as humanly possible.
I did the walkthrough since I found just waaayyyy too many new people didn't know what to do, where to go, or how to do it, since much of all the methods explained wasn't in layman's terms...or it was very verbose...so I cut the confusion and difficulty for new people with those 3 posts in my signature.
Part of the quick and easy (especially for new people) process includes console tools v1 (there are other methods penguinbait did...install tools...i think one for the 770...for the n810 external card and one for the n810 internal 2gb partition...and all kinds of goodies in between) ...Very wise to heed recommendations of those processes for utmost reliability and compatibility.

And yeah...i think both methods are valid...one that makes sense to the knowledgeable and one for the layman (or as close to that concept as there is)...

Anyway...I gotta go...gone for a chunk of the day ...hope to be back by this evening...
