So I've just done a clean install and want to make my N900 the best possible device it can be.

Please can anyone recommend the programs, apps and widgets I should install on it now to get the most out of it? Ones that you couldn't do without or ones that make the N900 experience what it is for you.

For arguments sake, lets say I am a complete noob when it comes to the device so if the program needs any special method to install or configure, please could you explain how to do it or direct me to a thread that has the answer?

Many thanks guys!

It's completely and utterly dependent on what you want from it.

Obviously if you're into games, then you'd install games.

If you're into GPS cacheing then there's apps for that.

I'd install Faster Application Manager and then never go back to the built-in app manager.

Then just browse, read, google, etc, etc. And enjoy

You could supply some info on what you want to do.

Do you just want to watch videos?, or play games?
Do you want to be able to "hack" anything hehehe
Do you want to make you own radio broadcast?

Theres no end to the possibilities when you have a N900

Just like the other day i saw a commercial from home.dk, it is a real estate "agent" and they have made an app so you can use an iPhone or Android device to search for homes.
Now this really shows what kind of a device that the N900 is, i just opened MicroB, typed in home.dk and i could just use the site like i would on a computer with WIN/LINUX/MAC, no need for apps....
Apps are for loser devices, when you have a brilliant browser and a Terminal then you do just about anything.
Only thing we need on the N900 is full flash 10 support.....
