Hi,

I've just polished up the first beta of MeeCoLay GUI. It's as easy as possible - so that nobody could have any problems!

Screenshot (a little out of date):

The GUI is available only to MeeCoLay donors. If you want to receive, you can donate
If you would like to donate in other currency or would like to use other form than PayPal, please contact me.

Features:
  • Converts the N9 package to N900 package
  • Makes sure so that the icon is displayed
  • Fixes MeeGo-specific icon syntax
  • With MeeCoLay GUI, running most of MeeCoLay-compatible apps doesn't require terminal usage!

Benefits of being MeeCoLay donor depend on the amount donated. First of all you support your favorite app
More info: here

How to install MeeCoLay GUI
  1. Open this link on your N900
  2. Open Hildon Application Manager (if not opened)
  3. Click on the menu bar and click "Application catalogues"
  4. Click on the "MeeCoLay GUI" entry
  5. Replace 'user' with your username and 'password' with your password
  6. Use your preferred way to install applications

This way you'll get all the updates.

To add the private repository, follow the same steps, but use this .install instead: http://marmistrz.net63.net/repositor...rivate.install

Note: Current MeeCoLay GUI beta saves the deb to /home/user/MyDocs/meecolaydeb.deb. It'll be improved in the next beta versions.

If you have donated and haven't received the download data, please contact me.

You may have to wait very long And even when it's free, it'll have ads.

Why not make a converter that devs csn use to just use on debs?
Autoconvert from Harmattan to this?
Or a running instance that recognizes a Harmattan app and runs it first, then the app?

Maybe in the future, now I'm concentrating on this, later I'll do things for the devs.

An update, beta1.3 (the previous was beta1.2) is out in the repo. It corrects the menu entry so that it's correctly handled.

The algorithm is not perfect yet, it may fail with some Exec fields. I'll work on it as soon as I find an example which fails.

App installs fine, will test it soon. Just a couple of things you may want to include in the next release. 1. Portrait support, 2. An icon in the application menu, otherwise great work.

1. Portrait support has been broken by the latest hildon-desktop update. So the MeeCoLay apps won't have portrait support (although MeeCoLay GUI enables it)
